WHY MOST PEOPLE END UP NOT BEING ADMITTED INTO UNILAG AND HOW TO AVOID THE MISTAKES

Last updated on November 19th, 2014 at 12:35 pm

There are so many reason for this, I will just list the Two basic ones and explain them briefly. Later I will give you guys more gists.

1. LACK OF INFORMATION ABOUT UNILAG AND THEIR CRITERIA FOR ADMITTING STUDENTS INTO 100 LEVEL

For example, most people do not know that unilag does not accept people who chose them as second choice when filling the jamb form. If you choose them as second choice you will not be considered. The reason is because Unilag has more than enough candidates who chose them as first choice yearly.
Most people do not also know that unilag combines both your jamb score and post utme score to form your agrigate which is your final score.

This is how Unilag calculate your jamb score and post utme score to form your agrigate:

Jamb/8 + Post utme/2 = Agrigate
Let’s say your jamb score =200
Post utme. =60
Your agrigate then will be 200/8 + 60/2
= 25 +30 =50
Agrigate =50
If your agrigate then meet the cut off for your course, then you are in. You become an akokaite.

2. LACK OF INFORMATION ABOUT THE INTENDED COURSE OF STUDY.
A perfect example of this is someone who intends to study an Engineering course and does not have further maths in his or her o level result. Even if you are the first on the merit list of your department, Unilag will not give you admission.
You will be sent home on clearance day and you will have no choice than to bear the pain and to start all over again. Please my advice to you is to go through your jamb brochure well and make sure you meet all the necessary requirement before applying for any course. This is very important.
If you have any question concerning what I just explained above drop it now as a comment here, I will be glad to answer them.
