I received a call from Dr. Olaniyan during the weekend inviting me to his office in Unilag and his reason for calling was to Order for Materials that could enhance his children’s Performance at the forth coming 2013 Unilag Post utme and Unilag Diploma entrance examination.
Aren’t you surprised at that? He also asked me for recommendation of a good tutorial centre where his children can get the best of preparation. Hmmm!
In a country like Nigeria where everyone believes that if you have a relation working in a prestigious position in a university especially as a lecturer not to talk of head of department, it means an automatic admissions for their children or extended families.
From our 15-20 minutes conversation in his office I can categorically say that Dr Olaniyan is not one of those that believes occupying a high position of authority in a university system should be used to influence admissions wrongly and that’s quite admirable to me, so I decided I will mention it here to know what you guys think.
