Dear University of Lagos prospective students ; Do not be distracted!!!
It has been brought to our notice at unilagadmissionguide.com that prospective students of unilag for 2016/17 academic session are in a confused state of mind with respect to the widespread of the statement made by the honourable minister of education in person of Mr Adamu Adamu about the scrapping of post unified tertiary matriculation examination (PUTME).
Since the news circulated via all media houses across the country as blood do in the veins of humans we have received series of mails, sms pon phone calls on clarification/verification/implication of the statement made by the minister with respect to UNILAG 2016/17 admission process.
This is our resolve ; YES, the statement was made and now lets consider the following:…
(1) Up to twenty (20) tertiary institution have done/announced their requirement for PUTME for 2016/17 academic session. This simply implies that the chance that the statement made by the honourable minister will be generally implemented in the 2016/17 academic session admission process is zero (0) as some schools have even released the result of their PUME and have perhaps stated collating the merit list.
From the above explanation, we can infer that there is a high probability if not certainty that unilag post ume for 2016/17 academic session will hold.
(2) UNILAG, UI and OAU have over the years set their jamb cut off mark to 200 against jamb’s 180 benchmark for tertiary institutions and nothing has happened.
In the statement released after the meeting with the education minister, the three aforementioned tertiary institution were the only ones allowed to set their requirement to 200. In that light, the three schools enjoys a level of independence with respect to their admission process and with that, one can postulate that the university of first choice and the nation’s pride will explore her independence in this regards and carry on with the 2016/17 PUTME process.
(3) The minister also stated that change of course/institution scratch card from jamb should no longer be for sale and we all know that it was sold this year. That also implies that the COC verdict will be applicable from next year and that portrays the scrapping of PUTME to be a later thing too.
(4) Do not be distracted ; Dear applicants, the honourable minister said no more post ume and many schools including FUTA (a federal school) have released PUTME details.
The verdict will likely hold across all schools by 2017/18 session so it is better for you to keep preparing thoroughly for your unilag post ume and not have it happen than to stop your preparation and then the examination holds. Shun any kind of distraction right now and be on the safe side. Be wise
